COSMAX – 316

Classification : AWS :E316-16 , IS 5206 : E 1912.2 R16

Characteristics : COSMAX- 316 Is a conventional welding all positions rutile coated AC/DC (+) electrode. It yields a controlled ferrite, 18% Cr Ni 11 % Mo 2.3% stainless steel weld metal having excellent mechanical properties in combination with high creep strength and is of radiographic quality. The weld metal composition has been found to be favourable in fabrication and repair of plant and equipment in rayon, dye and paper industries and for service in sulphuric and sulphurous acids. The electrode has low spatter loss and excellent arc stability. It can strike and restrike easily on all sizes. Advantages : soft and stable arc which is easy to strike and restrike. Radiographic quality weld beads and is smooth, uniform and of excellent appearance.

Applications : COSMAX- 316 is ideally suited for joining as well as surfacing of unstable Cr-18, Ni-8, Mo-2 stainless steel and clad steel of similar composition. Commonly used in chemical tanks, coils and vats that are exposed to severe corrosion by sulphuric, sulphurous, hydrochloric, acetic, phosphoric, citric etc. It is useful in chemical, pulp and paper industries.
